Red Light, Green Light
I never did a proper TNNA recap post. Sorry about that! I meant to, but then I got so busy with all the fun things that came from it that it just didn’t happen.
But if I had done a recap, I would have mentioned meeting baby Owen and his charming mother, Lorajean, who is behind the yarn, Knitted Wit. Lorajean heard me talking about how I am drawn to bright colors, and approached me with the idea behind the Red Light, Green Light Set–a stop light of course. I loved the idea and took on the project immediately! Click here to find the yarn I used.
When my son’s car seat was finally turned front-facing, he couldn’t get enough of stop lights. He continues to delight in telling me when it’s my turn to stop or preferably GO! Mittens are worked wrist up, in the round, and include thumb instruction for sizes Toddler and up. I decided to make a matching hat too.
After I finished I kept thinking I wanted to add just one more thing…so I decided to stitch on “Stop” “Go” and “Slow” on the hat. I also debated putting the “stop” on the red part of one of the mittens…and “GO” on the other mitten’s green section. I think that would have been really cute too :)
These projects are great for beginners. As usual, I had some great test knitters on this. A couple of them used Neapolitan ice cream colors and that was adorable too! The stoplight is just a jumping off point for any fun combo. Did I mention that the sizing includes preemie as well?
You could easily adapt this pattern to match other Tot Toppers you’ve knit. Just skip the purled rows and put some colorwork into the mitten…or add a spike or two for a matching Roar mitt!

Kate: where can I get this yarn?
I am not sure if she has it online yet…I promise to keep you posted! She is selling it at Stitches West and then is going to put some of these kits in her shop on etsy but I don’t believe she’s listed them yet (she just ordered the patterns from me this week).
