Wonderful Wednesday #1: Luca Slouch
Photography by Kickstand Studio
Since finishing up my book manuscript back in June, I’ve been gearing up for this month! The kids are back into school routines, fall is in the air (even in South Carolina, though yes, its still in the 80s most days) and I’m getting more used to trying to be productive while simultaneously mothering my 4 dear guys. I still haven’t figured out how to get everyone dinner on time while also successfully doing the chauffeuring, but maybe that will come with time?
October is going to be a month of 5 new pattern releases. You guessed it, one on each Wonderful Wednesday (WW)! Make sure you are subscribed to the mailing list, because (as usual) I will be giving away 2 free downloads of each pattern as its released and the random drawing is pulled from subscribers. Now, let’s get going.
I chose to release the Luca Slouch for the first WW for a couple of reasons. First, its back to the Tot Topper roots: a hat! Second, on October 5, I am hosting a knitalong for any of my hat designs in the Knitting for Boys Ravelry group. I thought it was only appropriate to present something new as an option for the occasion.
Getting these pictures back was a little bittersweet for me. It had been a while for me since my kids have “modeled” and all of a sudden I was presented with these fantastic pictures of my Jesse looking SO BIG. I just can’t believe how much they have all changed since I started designing. This is also a reflection of my inspiration for this design. I wanted to make him a hat that he would love (of course) and he’s just approaching that age where dinosaurs and robots are not the end all.
I love how the slouch turned out. I knew immediately that it needed to join the ranks of my “sized for everyone” patterns. I admit to trying on this hat myself (yup-Jesse’s head is less than an inch smaller than mine!) and it is possible the kid and I will be fighting over it in a couple of months. Make this for your growing-up-too-fast-baby, your boyfriend, or maybe even yourself.

And a few pattern notes:
I mentioned the upcoming KAL earlier, it would be remiss of me to not also mention that I will be offering a little promo to go along with it. You can get 20% off of the Luca Slouch pattern now through October 5 with the code “iloveluca”. Additionally, all of my other hat patterns can be purchased for 10% off during the same time frame with the code “ttKAL”. These promotions are valid at tottoppers.com and also on Ravelry.com, since that is where the KAL is hosted.
If you’re not new to Tot Toppers, you just might have noticed a little change at the very top of this post in the photography credit. Dear Sara Parker, who has been with me almost since the very beginning, dared to move away from me! I am thankful to have found a new photographer who is also wildly talented and you’ll be seeing lots more of his work in the coming months. Lucas of Kickstand Studio did a great job rallying the children and capturing their spirits at our first shoot a few weeks ago. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite images which will also serve as a sneaky peek of what’s to come later on this month.
I hope you are excited for an October full of Wonderful Wednesdays! See you next week.
Lovely design!
Wonderful Wednesday, That reminds me of something. .
