Pre-Order Knits for Boys
Something exciting happened this week.
I got the advanced copy of my new book in the mail! Click here and you can see the online preview of the inside of the book.
I’ve been given the go ahead to share all about it and I also now have a limited number of autographed copies available for pre-order on my website. Those will come directly from me to you. You can also pre-order the book on Amazon.
I don’t even know where to begin talking about the book. There are just…so many things to say.
There are 28 designs in the book: 13 sweaters, 3 hats, 3 vests, 2 pairs of mittens, and a belt, scarf, set of suspenders, bowtie & socks, pair of shorts & even a set of pajamas. To view them individually, click here (I’ll be adding them all over the next couple of weeks).
The sweaters include all types of styles: cardigans, jackets, zippers, short sleeves, basic and easy, striped, stranded knitting, cables and even an intarsia skiing dinosaur pullover that is worked seamlessly in the round. There is so much variety that you are sure to find the thing that your guy loves and you’ll get smiles like this.
Or sweetness like this.
Or confidence like this.
Or silliness like this.
Or studmuffin-ness (yeah I made up a word) like this.
I’m love each and every design in the book but honestly I’m actually not sure if they are my favorite part of the project because I am so incredibly proud of the reference section! Anyone that knits for kids knows that they grow so stinking fast and its hard to get a lot of wear out of these precious items. I’ve done a lot of research on children’s growth patterns and included all my tips and tricks about how to get the most wear possible and what you can add to any design (whether in this book or elsewhere) to give it longevity. Easy math and worksheets to help are included as well as tips that require no math whatsoever.
The book is divided into four sections. The reference section comes first and in addition to the grow-with-me stuff, it includes tutorials on zipper installation, adding hoods and pockets to designs, and even some basics for beginning knitters. If you like the idea of grow-with-me but are a little nervous about changing a design with one of the tips, you’ll love the first pattern set. Every sweater in the Grow-With-Me section features at least one of my tips.
The next section is all about texture. Cables and other touch-me stitch patterns are featured in a variety of accessories and sweaters.
And the final group is color color color.
I hope that is a good start in telling you all about my latest endeavor! We will be having a knitalong starting mid to late March in my Ravelry group for anything from the book so you’ll want to reserve your copy now to get it right away and be ready to go. Stay tuned over the next few weeks as I add the designs to the Ravelry database and then you can see all the knitting details! I’m just so excited to get this into your hands all you mamas/grandmamas/friends who knit for boys… its been a long time coming.
I am so excited to get my copy!
Great design. Can’t wait to knit some of the sweaters for my dear grandsons.
I’m working on imagination sweater. It is adorable. I had a little problem getting started, but with a little help I understand it now.
